High Powered Committee on Taxation and LokAyukta
6th July, 2015
Since the High Powered Committee (HPC) constituted by the Government to unearth the entire gamut of unabated taxation and illegal collections by the NPGs/State Government and NGOs has already submitted its report to the Chief Minister on 10 th June, it is imperative that the Government implement the Reports and Recommendations of the HPC with all seriousness as the HPC led by Justice HK Sema, Supreme Court of India Judge (retd) painstakingly did so. The Naga people deserve the implementation of the HPC findings in its totality. The ACAUT Nagaland expresses its deepest appreciation to Justice HK Sema and members for having rendered their full service in the interest of the State.
ACAUT Nagaland has been demanding the enactment of State Lokayukta Act for almost the past 1 year. It once again reiterates the demand for formulation of the Act during the Monsoon Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly which is around the corner. The ACAUT Nagaland is constrained to point out that numerous petitions for formulation of Lokayukta have been submitted to the State Government beginning October 2014 but to no avail. It is in the interest of the State and its citizens that such a mechanism to check corruption be put in place at any cost.
