Press Release: Fuel adulteration case - CCoFA rejects charge-sheet report
19th November, 2016
The CCoFA outrightly rejects the charge-sheet report submitted by the SIT which is also the disappointment of the year. It is characterized by one word - Servility. The only stand-out feature of the Charge-sheet is the Houdini-like ability of the SIT to completely absolve the Food & Civil Supply department of any wrongdoing. It is unbelievable that the SIT with its competent officers could conduct the investigations and prepare the charge-sheet in such a shameful manner. One cannot help but observe that the SIT personnel seemed more worried about their personal positions than maintenance of professional integrity. Finally, after perusing through the report, one also wonders whether the Charge-sheet was guided by racial bias.
After studying the Charge-sheet report, the CCoFA sought an appointment with the Chief Minister. However, even after 6 days, there has been no positive response from the CM. To recoup, the CM had on 18th October, assured the CCoFA that if the Charge-sheet was found unsatisfactory, he will set up an independent inquiry body- CCoFA was asked to meet him after studying the report. This assurance was given in written by the Chief Secretary. Since the CM seems to be unwilling to keep his word, the CCoFA will chart its own course of action. Whatever the differences, it’s in the Naga scheme of things to keep one’s word but the complete silence to our repeated overtures is very dishonorable.
